OMG It has been a while

So, I last left you 4 months ago in San Antonio, and the disaster that was. I finished out the tour, was pretty good, the last couple days sucked, but I got to see Fi on the last night I was in NYC and that was awesome.

I got home, hugged my puppy, and then started the search for a new job. I got some bites on Freelancing and did that, and also landed the entirety of Drexel Orientation at the Mandell, which is about 30hrs a week for July. I worked some awesome gigs freelancing, picked up some end of season work, and did some job hunting, I also apped for unemployment and got that.

I got 2 offers in the space of 2 weeks in July. One was for a Theatre in upstate New York in Albany. I would be the TD for it, building the shows and organizing the crew, and what not. I turned that down, but not until after I had an interview with another theatre.

I saw this post on Theatre Alliance of Philadelphia’s job board, “AME for a theatre”. The description was just what I want to do, and the job seemed to be within my qualifications. Only one problem, the post was a month old. I responded anyway. The job looked that good. I got an email back about a week later for a phone interview, a quick 15min once over to weed out people who lied on their resume. Some of the oddest questions were “Are you alergic to dogs?” and “Do you have a problem working at heights?”. My response to the 1st one was, “No, I sitting here with my dog right now.” and “I am afarid of falling from heights, but not being on them.” Made the guy laugh. The Guy was the Production Manager. So, I hear nothing for like 2 weeks, and the other job (the one in NY) sends me an email with the offer. I ask to push it off till Wednesday of the next week (it was the weekend of the 4th) cause I was busy with a show. That same day, I get an email for a face-to-face interview. I schedule the interview for Tuesday. By the time the interview rolled around I was fairly sure I couldn’t move to upstate NY for nine months, but I nailed that interview, and felt really good about it. I turned down the job in NY and keep my ear to the ground for other positions. I can’t put ALL of my eggs into one basket.

I get another email, the prod manager did mention the next step was to meet with the ME, my direct boss, on a Thursday asking if I could make it in the next day. Of course I could, I did. I met with him, and he seemed to like me. I continued the summer stock show I was working on, and on Monday, at about 7pm. I got another call. I got the Job! This job is full-time, salary, benefits, including dental! I was happy, stunned, and all of the above.

As the saying goes, when it rains it pours. I got more than one IT recruiter phone call, and then offers for single shows and fringe, including work with Live Arts, cause I know the Head ME. But I am reluctant to take anything with them, due to the fact that I have NO idea how intensive my new job will be. The commute is 45minutes and only by car, but thats ok.

I am currently waiting for a Skype interview with a cruise line, a job have almost no intention of taking. I have never done a skype interview before, so I am pretty much doing it for the xp of doing it. Anywho, Off I go.
